About This Plant
Blue Moon Mix brings one of early spring's most welcome color combinations: a blend of purple, soft lavender, deep violet, and white crocuses planted together so they emerge as a swirling carpet of cool tones. These are large-flowering Dutch crocuses with blooms up to three or four inches across, considerably more substantial than the small species types. They open wide in full sun and close up in rain or at night, which actually extends the life of each individual flower.
Crocus naturalize readily in lawns, borders, and rockeries, multiplying each year from offsets and returning reliably in well-drained soil. The Blue Moon palette is specifically curated to include varieties that bloom at the same time, so the mix holds together as a cohesive display rather than staggering out over weeks. They are deer-resistant, cold-hardy to Zone 3, and provide one of the earliest nectar sources of the year for emerging pollinators.
Plant corms in fall, three to four inches deep and three inches apart, pointed end up.
