About This Plant
Crocosmia 'Seven Seas' (Montbretia), 'Seven Seas', is valued in PNW gardens for its character and seasonal interest.
Crocosmias have arching wand-like flower spikes in fiery red, orange, or yellow that hummingbirds love. South African corm-forming perennials.
Full sun to part shade suits this species. Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Hardy USDA Zone 5 to 9. Spreads by corm to form colonies. Generally trouble-free.
For a Pacific Northwest native plant of similar character, consider Aquilegia formosa (Western Red Columbine), Holodiscus discolor (Oceanspray), or Mahonia aquifolium (Tall Oregon Grape) , all support native pollinators and birds.
