About This Plant
Cornus kousa x nuttallii Venus is valued in the landscape for character, form, and seasonal interest.
Dogwoods are among the most loved small flowering trees and shrubs, valued for spring bloom, summer berries, and fall color. Care varies by species.
Full sun to part shade suits this species. Plant in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Hardy USDA Zone 5 to 8. Watch for dogwood anthracnose (especially on C. florida) and dogwood borer on stressed trees. Mulch to keep roots cool.
The PNW native dogwood is Cornus nuttallii (Pacific Dogwood) , show-stopping spring bracts in dappled forest light, glossy red fruit favored by birds.
