About This Plant

Cordyline australis 'Can Can' (Cabbage Tree), 'Can Can', is valued for its garden character and seasonal interest in PNW landscapes.

Cordylines (Cabbage Trees / Ti) are bold tropical-look evergreens with strap-like foliage in green, burgundy, pink, or variegated forms. Spectacular architectural specimens for containers or sheltered garden beds.

Full sun to part shade suits this species. Plant in well-drained, fertile soil. Hardy USDA Zone 8 to 11. Marginally hardy in zone 8 PNW; site in warmest, most sheltered exposure or grow in containers and overwinter under glass. Drought-tolerant once established.

For a Pacific Northwest native shrub of similar character, consider Mahonia aquifolium (Tall Oregon Grape, Oregon state flower), Philadelphus lewisii (Mock Orange), or Holodiscus discolor (Oceanspray) , all support native pollinators and birds.
