About This Plant

Clematis 'Nelly Moser' is one of the most recognized large-flowered clematis in cultivation, producing striking pale mauve-pink blooms up to 8 inches across, each petal striped with a bold deeper pink bar down the center. It blooms on both old and new wood (Pruning Group 2), giving two flushes of flowers each season. The first and showiest flush appears in May and June on last year's growth, followed by a second flush on current-season stems in late summer.

Hardy in zones 4 to 8, 'Nelly Moser' is a vigorous climber that reaches 6 to 10 feet in both height and spread, making it ideal for trellises, obelisks, fences, or growing through open shrubs. Plant it with its roots in cool, shaded soil and its crown and stems reaching for the light.

Prune lightly in late winter or early spring, removing only dead or weak stems. Clematis is toxic to dogs, cats, and horses if ingested.
