Cestrum , evergreen shrubs with tubular flowers, often intensely night-fragrant (C. nocturnum / Night-Blooming Jasmine).
Full sun suits this species. Plant in well-drained soil. Hardy USDA Zone 8 to 11. Marginal in zone 8. ALL PARTS TOXIC if ingested. Hummingbird-attractive.
For a Pacific Northwest native shrub of similar character, consider Mahonia aquifolium (Tall Oregon Grape, Oregon state flower), Philadelphus lewisii (Mock Orange), or Holodiscus discolor (Oceanspray) , all support native pollinators and birds.
