About This Plant
Cercis reniformis 'Traveller' (Texas Redbud), 'Traveller' is valued in the landscape for character, form, and seasonal interest.
Texas Redbud , tougher, more drought-tolerant southern cousin of Eastern Redbud, with rounded glossy leaves. 'Oklahoma' is a popular selection.
Full sun to part shade suits this species. Plant in well-drained soil. Hardy USDA Zone 5 to 9. More heat- and drought-tolerant than C. canadensis; otherwise similar care.
For a Pacific Northwest native counterpart in scale and bloom, consider Amelanchier alnifolia (Saskatoon / Western Serviceberry) for white spring flowers and edible blue berries, or Cornus nuttallii (Pacific Dogwood) for show-stopping spring bracts in light shade.
