About This Plant
Cedrus deodara 'Divinely Blue' (Deodar Cedar) is a Deodar Cedar, a Western Himalayas ornamental cultivar 'Divinely Blue'.
Graceful weeping-tip evergreen conifer with blue-green needles. Large at maturity (40 to 70 ft). Compact cultivars exist (Feelin' Blue, Karl Fuchs). PNW well-suited; tolerates coastal salt and wind. Long-lived. Minimal pruning.
Plant in full sun, in well-drained, average; drought tolerant once established soil. Hardy USDA Zone 6 to 9. Long-lived. Generally deer-resistant once established.
If you'd like a Pacific Northwest native tree with similar grace, consider Cornus nuttallii (Pacific Dogwood), Acer circinatum (Vine Maple), Arbutus menziesii (Pacific Madrone), or Amelanchier alnifolia (Saskatoon). These provide bird food, pollinator support, and Indigenous food heritage in your landscape.
