About This Plant

Canna 'South Pacific Scarlet' (Canna Lily), 'South Pacific Scarlet', is valued for seasonal interest and the role it plays in PNW garden borders.

Cannas are bold tropical-look perennials with banana-like leaves (often bronze, variegated, or striped) and brilliant flower spikes.

Full sun suits this species. Plant in moist, well-drained, fertile soil. Hardy USDA Zone 8 to 11. Marginally hardy in PNW; lift rhizomes in fall in cold areas. Heavy feeder.

For a Pacific Northwest native perennial of similar character, consider Aquilegia formosa (Western Red Columbine), Tellima grandiflora (Fringecups), or Dicentra formosa (Pacific Bleeding Heart) , all support native pollinators.
