About This Plant
Callistemon sieberi (River Bot), 'River Bot', is valued for its garden character and seasonal interest in PNW landscapes.
Bottlebrushes (Callistemon) are Australian evergreens with showy bottlebrush-shaped flower spikes in red, pink, or white. Hummingbird favorites and tough drought-tolerant shrubs.
Full sun suits this species. Plant in well-drained; tolerates a range soil. Hardy USDA Zone 8 to 11. Marginally hardy in zone 8 PNW; site in warmest exposure. Drought-tolerant once established. Generally trouble-free.
For a Pacific Northwest native shrub of similar character, consider Mahonia aquifolium (Tall Oregon Grape, Oregon state flower), Philadelphus lewisii (Mock Orange), or Holodiscus discolor (Oceanspray) , all support native pollinators and birds.
