Care Notes

Cool-season hardy annual. Direct-sow in spring as soon as soil can be worked, or in fall for overwintering in mild climates. Full sun to part shade, average well-drained soil. Reseeds readily — may come back year after year. Deadhead for continuous bloom. EDIBLE PETALS (pot marigold, true calendula, NOT the Tagetes French/African marigold) — food-safe, peppery-saffron flavor, good in rice, salads, and butter. Some strains (Resina) bred for high resin content for herbal salves/tinctures. Bees and hoverflies visit the flowers.
