About This Plant

Bon Bon Orange is a compact, early-blooming pot marigold that delivers a warm burst of true tangerine-orange color from the moment it opens until the end of the season. The double, pompom-like flowers are generously sized relative to the tidy 10 to 12 inch plants, giving the whole plant a lush, full appearance that reads well in borders, containers, and window boxes.

Calendula has been grown in kitchen gardens and cottage borders for centuries, and with good reason. The flowers are edible, with a slightly spicy, peppery flavor that makes them excellent scattered over salads, floated in soups, or used as a saffron-like colorant in rice dishes. They are also classically used in herbal skin preparations and infused oils. Pollinators love them.

Bon Bon Orange thrives in cool conditions and performs especially well in the maritime climate of the southern Oregon coast. It is easy to grow, matures quickly from transplant, and self-cleans without deadheading.
