About This Plant

Birch Tree (Dragonfly Grown), 'Dragonfly Grown' is valued in the landscape for character, form, and seasonal interest.

Birches are graceful fast-growing trees prized for white or peeling cinnamon bark and golden fall color. Best in cool moist sites.

Full sun to part shade suits this species. Plant in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Hardy USDA Zone 3 to 7. PNW WATCHPOINT: heavily attacked by bronze birch borer in stressed or droughted trees. Provide consistent water and avoid summer drought to reduce risk.

For a Pacific Northwest native tree of similar character, consider Acer macrophyllum (Bigleaf Maple) for canopy, Cornus nuttallii (Pacific Dogwood) for spring bloom, or Arbutus menziesii (Pacific Madrone) for evergreen sculpture and red bark.
