About This Plant

Begonia 'Green Leaf White' offers the same bulletproof performance as other wax begonias but in a clean, sophisticated white-flowered form that pairs beautifully with nearly any planting scheme. The clusters of bright white single flowers stand out crisply against the glossy, waxy green foliage from late spring through the first frost, providing months of self-cleaning, low-maintenance color with no deadheading required. White-flowered wax begonias are especially valuable in shaded beds and containers where other white annuals falter, and they light up evening gardens in a way that warmer-colored forms cannot match.

Plant 'Green Leaf White' in a spot ranging from full shade to full sun, making it one of the few true full-spectrum adaptable annuals for the Oregon coast. It tolerates cool, overcast summer conditions without sulking and produces steady bloom even in the gray fog-belt conditions common to Langlois and the surrounding coastal area. Keep soil consistently moist and well drained. The flowers attract bees and butterflies, and deer and rabbits reliably leave wax begonias alone.

Space plants 8 to 10 inches apart in beds and 6 inches apart in containers for a full, lush display. Fertilize monthly with a balanced fertilizer to sustain vigorous bloom production through the entire season. As with all begonias, keep away from pets, as the plant is toxic if ingested.
