About This Plant

Begonia fimbriata 'Yellow' delivers the same spectacular fringed, carnation-like double flowers as the red form but in warm, sunny yellow that brightens shaded spots the way few other annuals can. The deeply ruffled petals create flowers up to 6 inches across with a richly textured, layered appearance reminiscent of a peony or old-fashioned carnation. Plants grow as bushy upright mounds and bloom prolifically from midsummer through frost, making them exceptional performers in containers, hanging baskets, and shaded borders where bold color is needed without intense sunlight.

Position Yellow Fringed Begonia in partial shade with some morning sun for the best flower production. The mild, overcast summers along the Oregon coast suit tuberous begonias perfectly, providing the cool root zone and diffused light they prefer without the scorching afternoon heat. Keep soil consistently moist with excellent drainage. Feed every two to three weeks through the blooming season.

Plant tubers or potted starts after all frost danger has passed. The warm yellow flowers combine beautifully with blue or purple companions. Dig tubers before the first hard frost for replanting the following spring.
