About This Plant

'Dreameria Dreamland' is a breakthrough selection of sea thrift developed by Proven Winners for its ability to flower from spring through fall, not just in the cool season like traditional Armeria maritima. The dark salmon-pink globe flowers rise on neat stems above a dense, low mound of evergreen grass-like foliage, and the plant maintains a compact, uniform habit of about 10 to 12 inches tall and wide throughout the season. It is one of those plants that earns its space in the garden by performing continuously rather than in a single burst.

Sea thrift is ideally suited to coastal gardens: it tolerates salt spray, lean soils, and dry conditions once established. It requires full sun and excellent drainage, and will not tolerate standing water around the crown. Planted in these conditions it is essentially maintenance-free beyond the occasional shearing of spent flower heads to encourage fresh blooming. It is heat tolerant, deer resistant, and attracts butterflies reliably through the bloom season.

For gardeners on the Oregon coast, sea thrift has special relevance as a plant that genuinely thrives in the conditions that challenge other perennials: wind, lean sandy soil, salt air, and wide temperature swings between seasons.
