About This Plant
The 'Sassy Red' marguerite daisy is a non-stop bloomer with vivid red flowers on a tight, well-branched plant that grows 12 to 18 inches tall and 16 to 24 inches wide. The classic daisy form, with a yellow center surrounded by red petals, is cheerful and versatile, and the plant produces blooms continuously through the growing season without the deadheading that many daisies require. Deadheading can extend the show further and is easy with a light mid-season trim if the plant starts to look leggy.
Marguerite daisies grow best in full sun with well-drained soil and moderate water. They are fast-growing and establish quickly, making them useful for filling gaps in borders or anchoring containers with consistent season-long color. In mild coastal climates like the southern Oregon coast, they can behave almost like perennials, overwintering in sheltered spots, though they are typically treated as annuals in colder regions.
Compact and tidy, 'Sassy Red' is a strong choice for pots, window boxes, and front-of-border plantings. The cut flowers hold well in a vase.
