About This Plant

'Coral Champion' is a patented flamingo flower cultivar selected for its consistently large, waxy spathes in a warm orange-coral color with a yellow spadix. Each bloom is glossy and heart-shaped and lasts up to eight weeks on the plant, which is an unusually long time for a houseplant flower. The plant grows to about 20 inches tall with deep green, arrow-shaped leaves on long stems that arch outward attractively, and in good conditions it will cycle through blooms repeatedly through the year.

Anthuriums want bright indirect light: enough to flower freely, but not direct sun, which scorches the leaves. They prefer warmth, consistent humidity above 50 percent, and a fast-draining mix of something like orchid bark and perlite rather than standard potting soil. Water when the top inch of the mix dries out. Overwatering is the most common problem, so err on the dry side if you are unsure.

This is a long-lived houseplant that rewards consistent conditions. Note that all anthurium species are toxic to pets and people if any part of the plant is ingested.
