About This Plant

Monarch Magic Floss Flower is a compact, mounded annual covered in fluffy, powder-puff clusters of soft blue-lavender from late spring through the first frost. The flower heads have a distinctive feathery texture that gives the plant its common name. As the name suggests, this cultivar is a standout performer for butterfly gardens, drawing in monarch butterflies along with many other pollinators throughout the season.

Plants reach 6 to 12 inches tall with an 8 to 16 inch spread, making them excellent front-of-border plants, container fillers, and mass-planting subjects. Monarch Magic is heat and drought tolerant for an ageratum, holds up well without deadheading, and continues blooming reliably even during warm PNW summers.

Provide average, well-drained soil with consistent moisture and it will perform from planting time until hard frost shuts the season down.
