About This Plant
Agapanthus africanus (Lily of A very attractive dw), 'Lily of A very attractive dw', is valued for seasonal interest and the role it plays in PNW garden borders.
Lily of the Nile. Strap-leaved perennial with blue or white flower umbels. Hardier modern cultivars survive PNW winters.
Full sun to part shade suits this species. Plant in moist, well-drained, fertile soil. Hardy USDA Zone 6 to 11. Generally trouble-free. Divide every few years.
For a Pacific Northwest native perennial of similar character, consider Aquilegia formosa (Western Red Columbine), Tellima grandiflora (Fringecups), or Dicentra formosa (Pacific Bleeding Heart) , all support native pollinators.
