About This Plant
Acer saccharum 'Fall Fiesta' (Sugar Maple), 'Fall Fiesta' is valued in the landscape for character, form, and seasonal interest.
Sugar Maple is the iconic shade tree of eastern North America, prized for brilliant fall color and dense canopy. Less reliable in PNW heat-stressed sites than in its native range.
Full sun to part shade suits this species. Plant in moist, well-drained, deep, fertile soil. Hardy USDA Zone 3 to 8. Watch for verticillium wilt and leaf scorch in hot dry sites. Provide deep mulch and supplemental water in summer.
For a Pacific Northwest native tree of similar character, consider Acer macrophyllum (Bigleaf Maple) for canopy, Cornus nuttallii (Pacific Dogwood) for spring bloom, or Arbutus menziesii (Pacific Madrone) for evergreen sculpture and red bark.
