Bigleaf Maple , keystone PNW native canopy tree with the largest leaves of any maple. Spectacular gold fall color, important wildlife host (epiphytic moss communities, songbirds, mammals).
Full sun to part shade suits this species. Plant in deep, moist, well-drained soil. Hardy USDA Zone 5 to 9. Long-lived large tree (50 to 100 ft). Site with room. Generally trouble-free.
This species is native to the Pacific Northwest and contributes ecologically as a wildlife host on the right site.
