Collection: Silver Foliage Plants

Silver foliage is one of the most useful tools in a designer's kit. It cools down hot color, calms down busy plantings, glows under a full moon, and ties the rest of the garden together without ever asking for the spotlight.

This collection brings together silver-leaved plants of every habit, from the trailing curtain of Silver Falls dichondra in summer pots to the cloudlike mounds of artemisia, the woolly carpets of lamb's ear, the felted gray leaves of helichrysum, and the snow-in-summer mats of cerastium. Most are drought-tolerant once established and prefer full sun with sharp drainage.

Silver plants are especially useful in coastal gardens, where their reflective surfaces shed wind and salt. Pair them with deep purples and burgundies for drama, soft pinks and mauves for romance, or let them lead a moonlit pollinator border on their own.
