Collection: Manzanitas

Manzanitas are some of the most beautiful evergreen plants we grow on the West Coast. The smooth mahogany bark, the tidy clouds of urn-shaped pink-and-white winter flowers, the way bees and hummingbirds find the blooms before most other nectar is open, it is hard not to love them.

This collection covers our manzanita selection at the nursery, from low groundcovering forms like Emerald Carpet and the kinnikinnick types that hug the soil, to architectural shrubs like Howard McMinn, Sunset, and Austin Griffiths that earn a place as a specimen. Most prefer full sun, sharp drainage, and a hands-off watering style once established.

If you're building a low-water Pacific Northwest garden, want winter habitat for native pollinators, or just need a tough evergreen that handles coastal wind and lean soil, manzanitas should be on your shortlist. We grow them, we use them in our own landscapes, and we'll happily talk you through the right pick for your spot.
